I am building a small practice amp for bass and I was wondering if there is an one knob bass version of Baxandall's tone stack?
If there is any other suggestion for an one knob tone stack for bass amp, more than welcome!!

Being that you want a single pot tone control, you'll need to decide what you want it to do...

EDIT: occured to me that you could use a dual gang pot, and decide how decreasing or increasing treble would affect bass response at the same time (increasing or decreasing it).

If your concern is mids then a notched T filter could do.

Search for "Tilt EQ" schematics. That might be what you need.

Many of these could be adapted for bass amp use. strungout raises a good point though, what do you want it to do?

As a bass player myself, I find that the majority of the time I'm only concerned with 2 things: (1) cutting low bass to prevent excessive boominess; and (2) adjusting the mids (almost invariably around 700-800 Hz) to either cut through or fall back into the mix. Highs are not usually a problem, or they can be fixed on the guitar.

A simple notch filter might be the best option for a one-knob-job. It will take you from rock'n'roll to funk slapping to metal while avoiding the sometimes strident mid-boost range. As a second choice, a "barely"-parametric cut/boost would give you some extra flexibility and annoy your guitar player on higher boost settings. :D

For a third choice, I'd suggest a Big Muff Pi control. Check out Jack Orman's brilliant tweaks on this design if you're looking to adjust highs and lows with a fixed mid-scoop, flat or mid-hump response:

You may need to adjust some values for your purpose.

Bax or James?

Bax has the tone network tightly integrated with a high-gain amplifier.

James is a "passive" network (though needs some added gain to make-up its loss).

The Classic James, just leave off the Treble pot and the two caps to it. The Bass pot is a complete bass-mid network, which without a treble pot will be flat from 1KHz to above the audio band, while allowing wide swing below 500Hz.
