I also breadboarded the MicCaster Really simple transistor compressor from the other place. but as yet it doesnt pass signal.

Following along here, as Paul said, maybe try a ~~27K series input resistor at the input, then work up or (most likely) down from there. I like the sound a lot.

R10 =3k3 thats the only big change.

Its a bit noisy. could be the breadboard.
I could probably do away with the rude pot

I was curious what the FET would sound like so thanks Richard for taking time and demoing it for us.  It is hard to tell what is actually going on since the video/YouTube is also killing the dynamics quite a bit, but the compressor comes off as a very transparent, subtle and fast, correct? Would be interesting to see what kind of modifications can be done to improve it.

This is where I'm upto.
I kept the Rude pot because when humbuckers are in use the signal is way too hot.
There's still a bit of switching noise sometimes, that I'd like to eradicate.

this is outstanding rich! cool man!!!
i like that saggy weird compression thing in the video, i can hear it on my puter and can tell when ya kick it on.
very subtle in a good way.. just seemed to soften the decays of the guitar notes. i have a feeling that if ya play around with the germanium transistor it will be less saggy. but man, sounds great, well done bro

Rich, I went back and checked the video again and realized I never viewed the ending of it (where the compressor really started to kick in) the first time around. It sounds nice! I'm curious to how this ended? Did you box it up and how bad was noise floor, unacceptable? Did you do any other tweaks?

I'm not done with it yet Stoner.
It's still on the breadboard. When I get the time I will tweek it a bit more.
It's not bad but I wouldn't sell my dyna comp.

Sorry it's taking so long I have a lot to do at this time of year.
