Gator - looking for a longer release - ?

A forum search yields a lot of threads, some of which have some mention of mods.  But no luck in finding a way to extend the release time.  It doesn't appear to employ the diodes in the side chain in the same manner as other gates, but I have tried inserting a pot or cap in a few not-quite-random places.  Any ideas?

C8 being the charge cap
I would try different value pots for attack decay
Failing that a largish pot as a variable resistor to gnd around c8
Not quite sure how that ic5 rectifier works but what have you got to lose if it's on the breadboard.

It is on the bb. I've already tried a pot to ground around that spot, putting two or three diodes where that one is across the attack/decay. And a few other silly things.

C8 charges slowly and discharges quickly.  I'm sure a slower discharge is the only way. I've tried another cap to ground on the other side of the diode. No change.

there is a diode across the attack delay pot, w/ K to the opamp. this will allow the C8 to dump all it's charge fast as soon as the opamp output is lower than the cap charge (I'd say). so put a pot in-line with that diode to slow the discharge, she'll be apples.

You know, I tried that too!  I used a 1Meg pot and tried throughout its whole range. No change in release.  I'll try again - you sound optimistic.  Variable resistor in line with the diode, the two of them being parallel with the attack pot .


Edit - I think I'm the round hole/square peg domain here.  The gator is a sweller, and there is no sign of anyone ever extending the release.  This will be another sweller, and for a gate I'll try some thing like amrdnrdy's fencepost.
