Replace Depth pot in Tremulus Lune

Hi,
I have been working for a few days on a PCB for the Tremulus Lune that uses the Alpha 14mm clear shaft pots. I have though just realised that Alpha doesn't make a 1k Lin pot for that particular part, which is quite annoying. However, I need a 1k Lin pot for the DEPTH control in the schematic.

The minimum value Alpha does for that particular model is 5k Lin and I am wonder what the impact is in swapping that 1k to a 5k in that particular part of the circuit.

Sorry for the silly question, I hope you can help!

A 1.5k or 1.2k resistor placed across the outer lugs will get you close (real desired value is like 1.35k).

You NEED to use the clear shaft, can't just replace it with a standard pot?

No, I don't have to (I have backlit only a couple of the 6 controls), but for consistency and to keep the PCB symmetrical (makes my life easier with the routing), I would really love to use the same family for all the pots.

I hear you.  So if you're not going to just get a new pot, I'd see what adding one of those value resistors across the outer lugs will get you.   You may not even notice a thing (that is my prediction, tho I have been wrong before, ha ha).

It is a common thing to do (use a fixed resistance for this).  They do it on guitar pots frequently.

I think a resistor across the outer lugs is the only way, the taper is gonna act more like a log in this way.

Yup.  Might not be something very noticeable tho. Only way to know is to try...
