Electro Sonic?

https://www.e-sonic.com/

Try ABRA as well, but they have a high minimum order.

Might be worth your while to take a drive down there though. Only open Mon-Fri.  :icon_cry: You'll probably come out of there with a bunch of other stuff too.  :icon_wink:

If you're ordering already from Mouser or Digikey you can get a couple small Hammonds or triad flatpaks from them and not have to pay for another shipping cost.

If all you need are tarnsformers, Hammonds might be available locally wherever you are.

I've ordered from Tip Top in Winnipeg, Electrosonic outlets across the country, A1 Electronics Parts, Toronto was my last order, Active Tech Electronics have stores here and there. Last time i ordered A1 had the best prices of those and i received them in about a week, make sure you set the currency to cdn. before you compare their prices.

I often go to www.digikey.ca. They have fast cheap shipping ($8 for next day delivery. Shipments over $100 are free).

Al, For a pedal/circuit like this it'd be better to use a 12vac wall wart for the first transformer and keep the 120vac out at the wall/power strip.

Good article here on putting wall warts to use in tube circuits.

What about grounding?
The first thing Uncle Doug teaches is to switch to a 3 prong plug so you can properly ground all of this high voltage stuff.

Using a wart wart = no ground.

Or is their something I'm not getting.

The wall-wart will be a Class II appliance, where the DC (or AC) output is isolated from the AC mains input.  It's safe.  (I'm assuming you're concerned with safety.)

Yes safety.
I know we all dream of going out playing our guitar.
But I'd like it to be because I'm an old guitar player who played until the end, not because I was a stupid DIY'er that fried himself!

Thanks for the reply.

I have bought Hammond transformers at Washburne Electric and got the same standard discount you get at A-1 Electronics.  There is no discount at Sayal so they are not the place to go even though they carry a stock.  Washburne is an electrician's supply store but they will place an order for you.  I got a Hammond 125E output transformer there some time ago - list, $44+ Washburne price $38+ (I can't remember the change under a dollar).  You submit your order and pay and they get it to you the following week.  Electronics shops are not everywhere but electrician's shops are a lot more abundant.
