I've built maybe 50, sold like 25, and had to fix maybe 8 or ten.  If you sell to locals and friends, warrantee work will kill ya!
As long as you're having fun, it is a worthwhile experience, but for every Zvex there are 1000 guys reading this forum and building much like myself.

that might be an extreme example though. that means 1/3 of your work returns for repairs?

i'm not saying this to brag, but maybe as another point of perspective. i've sold about 1,000 pedals so far, not as much as some, and had <1 % back for faults. it's entirely possible to build things that won't fail. largely failures have been been due to use of germanium transistors, broken/worn hardware, errors on my part such as construction, and one snapped wire.
