Not much gain sweep on Purple Plexi

I have a question on the Purple Plexi.  Has anyone noticed that there's not much of a gain difference when turning the knob from 0 to 12 or 1 o'clock?  I'm seeing that the gain really kicks in at about 4 or 5.  Any way to fix this?  I'm using a reverse log pot and omitting the 470R resistor.  The layout is from Tagboard Effects.
Are you saying that I put an abnormal brain into a seven and a half foot long, fifty-four inch wide GORILLA?

Plexi

I built it on protoboard time ago (and decided to built the Sonic Titan instead  ;D )
I don't remember to get the problem you say.

Maybe you sould to put back the 470R resistor, due it's esencially turning the B1K pot into ~320R, and it's the range it needs before the "gain link" (pin 1 to 8 of LM386) hit the ground.
Go back to a Linear 1k pot too: if not, with the parallel res, it'll continuing inconsistent.
To you, buffered bypass sucks tone.
To me, it sucks my balls.
