Ok. Unless I'm dumber than I originally thought, I probably have bad input/output jacks. I wired them together just to see if I would get any kind of sound. Nothing but a popping when strumming. Tip to tip, sleeve to sleeve, ring to ring. Nothing else. Is that how it is to be done?

Probably a lot of things along the way but I'm ashamed to say a bad instrument cable. Thanks everyone for the help. I still need to add the led which isn't working. But thats  whatever.

I get a lot of amps in for repair that work just fine.  Very common mistake.  Cables go bad frequently.
