Anyone know what type of input cap the original Rangemaster used (ceramic, metal film, etc.)? I am interested in the *authentic* , *historically acurate* part.

Thanks

The original unit from my Dad has a 0.0068uF ceramic cap inside, but I don´t think that the use of this caps was consistent. But I HIGHLY recommend to use a good quality film cap or a silver mica and low tolerance metal film resistors all the way to reduce hiss a little bit.

So far I prefer the sound of a .005 or .0068 ceramic and was curious if the original used a ceramic. My theory was the ceramic *grit* was part of the charm. I have no problems with hiss.

Thanks a lot for the info!

All the oiginals I've seen had a .005 tubular foil cap for the input...have never seen a ceramic there or the .0068 value either...then again I've seen only about 12 different ones out of a few thousand...

The output cap was always a polystyrene with a value of .0082...
