EA modified tremolo pulse indicator stops pulsing when I plug guitar in.

I really struggled with this one today.  Built it and it worked perfectly.  Boxed it up and that worked fine, too.  Until I plugged in the guitar and the pulsing indicator stopped pulsing.  I made a sloppy soldery mess - really it's just an embarassment in there - trying to reconfigure it a million times, but in the end had to settle with the 'indicator always on' option (pre-'modified' version) The thing that's killing me is that I really think I've gotten this working in the past! Gaaa! Anyone had this problem and solved it?

I normally use the tonepad 3pdt wiring but switched it to this one: http://effectslayouts.blogspot.com/p/general-layout-notes.html to see if that would help.  It didn't...

As always, any help super appreciated!

Show us the schematic you used please.
I'm guessing the flashing rate indicator is wired to the lfo output instead of +9v.

Pictures might help too. Spaghetti or not......

I'm using the one Runoffgroove one, here:

I've since come across a pdf from GGG but it seems to indicate that you can have a pulsing indicator, or an always-on pulsing light.  I'm beginning to think you'd need a 4PDT to have both.

1 You could have a permanently on rate indicator and a separate bypass indicator. With a
3pdt.
Pro's You can see the flashing rate when in bypass as well as with effect on.
Advantage is you can set the rate by eye before kicking the effect in.

Your effect on indicator led is done like the tonepad you referenced or the tag board you linked to.

Cons the rate indicator led is always on

2 Or you could do a rate indicator on, when effect is on. 3pdt.

Pro's only one led to drill and prep. It is also You effect on indicator

Con's You can't do a visual rate set up unless the effect is on.
