Hey

I'm wanting to mod a BBE Acoustimax Preamp.  It has an effects loop TRS, but I'd be keen to have control of the wet and dry level of my signal, as I do some pretty heavy modulation stuff on the effects send (granular delay, weird delay, maybe more) but want to be able to preserve the dry signal, and have quiet, but heavily processed stuff in the background.

If I just hook up a double gang pot between the send and receive will that do it?  Is there any potential issues?

So you want to make the series effects loop into a parallel loop?
If you do that it is best to use kill dry effects only to keep phasing issues from happening.

A parallel loop can be done passively but you need mixer resistors to mix the signals back into one after you have split them. When I tried it I needed to make these so big that they attenuated the signal a lot.

If I were you I would check the schematic of your BBE and check if the output of the loop is buffered. If this is the case, split the signal and use a low value pot on each output. Let these pots feed your devices and dry signal.
Then build an active mixer to mix your signals back together.

This or buy a boss ls-2.
