Hi Stompboxers  :)

at the Weekend i build the Grace Overdrive (www.runoffgroove.com).
I selected some other part Values to get a warmer Overdrivesound (InputCap 0,022uF) and added the BigMuffPi-ToneControl at the Output.

The Sound is just fine, but i noticed that the GainRange is very small.
It runs in slight Overdrive (played with my SG) and can be turned (all the way up) to a hard rocking crunch.
The Levelreserve is very high - much power, but i dont get the Pedal clean enough.

Is there any way to modify the Circuit to get a Range from dirty clean to
to good Overdrive?

I studied the Datasheet from the LM386 and there is an integrated Resistor (1.35K) from Pin1 to Pin8.
There will be no change after a specific Value of Resistor a higher you
use it.

Did anybody us another way to control the Gain of this IC?
Perhaps the Gaincontrol from the SmashDrive? I tested one out, but the
SmashDrive is a KillerDistortion (not bad man!), not for my needs...

i would be happy on some suggestions

thanx
Oliver

Try making the gain pot a 2k or 5k pot.  This will help you get the sound cleaner.  The larger the pot, the cleaner it gets.
