Hi all

Just wondering if any of the experts can date my colorsound swell. it has an orange base and a sticker saying colorsound swell in blue on a white background, see the photo. there are no identifying marks inside and cant see anything on the pot.
Any info would be greatly appreciated

they were usually date stamped but that can fade, have a look on the 'effects database' web site for similar looking ones maybe?  looks like a later one to me, could be wrong though

baztherockstar

thanks josh. no joy on the database, good resource for the future though.
what makes you think its  later model?
I have taken it to a shop near me the owner sells a lot of vintage and seems to think its '69 to '72

You can tell by the labels and the Colorsound logo. I believe they were using a different logo in '69-72. That looks later to me.

If it has the original pot you could potentially use the codes on the pot to determine rough date of manufacture. http://www.guitarhq.com/pots.html
Sometimes that works great sometimes there isn't anything on the pot to go on.

as josh said,

they usually have a rubber stamped 'faded' ink date on the case inside.

I have one inside my Colorsound wah but it's so faint that it can barely be seen.

OK search over. I emailed Macaris in London. They told me its what they call the 'french case.' made for  companies in France from 1978 to early 80's.
Thanks for the help guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha, I knew that was more recent than what you were told. Anyway, glad you got your answer.
