yeah, gary,
pretty much.
the expressionator solves most of those issues with DSP, but... its not perfect. the demo is bloody amazing, the stuff it can do... but i don't wanna waste a 200$ digital unit hacking on it.

in the expressionator case, it uses the computer to not only switch and bypass, but supply the proper "load" to the effect being controlled when you switch it, and being able to control the "pot" taper, rotation direction, etc etc.

its really freekin cool. ;)

but if it had footswitches, it could be used in real time. right now,  you gotta commit to presets.

and i'm more of a random access guy ;)

I just checked out the Expressionator. It's cool, but I think the user interface is pretty clunky. However, that is the price you pay for compactness. I'm going to try to get my circuit in a 125B with 8 jacks and an OLED display with some buttons, etc. It could be modded to do any number of things, what I will post will simply be a jumping off point for what I need.

If I had to guess, I would say that the Expressionator is using a control voltage with the expression pedal, sampling the CV with the ADC, and then controlling a digital potentiometer IC. That is what allows you to reverse the taper and stuff like that. Pretty cool, but not what I am shooting for. Then again, I am wanting to be able to control multiple effects simultaneously or individually with presets, so that is how I'm working mine. I started in on the microcontroller code on Saturday. Probably about half way done, but I am waiting on some parts to show up and I will be on vacation for a while. I'll make sure to post up the project when I'm done. If it's even half as cool as what I am working towards, it will be a worthwhile build, for sure! It should also be flexible enough to make it so that you don't have to bend down, you could bank up and down through presets with a footswitch if you make a minor adjustment to the code and build it accordingly.

The way *I'd* do it would be to have everything on the board with CV inputs, and then you'd just be able to route the expression pedal CV output to whichever pedal you wanted.
That's pretty interesting, will this work with passive expression pedal?

one hell of a great dude on this forum sent me an expressionator as a gift!
i can't say who, but thanks man!!

i haven't gotten to try it yet, gonna have to build a couple patch cables

no prob peekin inside if anyone wants to see it
