Maggiemedia.com is gone. Does anyone have the pdf and other information that they hosted on modding the microtube?
Thanks,
Chris

I lost it in my HD crash, so if someone have it (for me too) ...

It has been a while since I moded it and I am sorry to say, but I sold my project. But I can remember that this swich (different distortion selector) swiches resistors into serial. They were  330Ohm for each step. So what I did was that I kept the original swich and added footswiches for 3 channels. 1 channel is with out resistor. Second one connects one 330ohm (value depends on how far you want to go) and the second swich connects the next resistor. And that was the deal.

It would be good, if you could swich between the resistor values that are under the footswiches, because then you could make it more flexible

Sorry guys I have forgotten about this. I am really very sorry about it.

I don't own this amp anymore. I sold it, the modded one.

So I am not much help to you any more.

BUT: astronaut, buy it. Take a look inside. You have been messing around with various stuff. Its not complicated. Just tear it apart and take a look inside. If you understand the basics of digital electronics you will know what to do with it. There is not much you can do, it SMD, with changing the sounds. But Line Out and ext speaker and footswitch will not be a big issue for you.

Some glues the so called channel switch or sound swith is acutalli switching between different resistors. Just add mechanical switches that will do the same.

I am a bit sad that I didn't do any documentations to the stuff I modded and built but I will be smarter next time. Ofcourse if I have time.
I am working full time now, so I am sorry to say that I don't have time to dig in again.

Good luck!

This is a very ccol small amp. The first thing I did was placing a power switch on top of it :D
That's it now it's in a box and i don't play it anymore....

and seperating the delay and reverb pot into 2...hmmm.... :icon_cool:

Thanks to this thread I was able to add a footswitch to my microcube and add RecOut/Phones mod also.  I would like to post how I did the footswitch for those who wants to do the same.

I will only summarize the footswitch because the RecOut/Phones mod is widely available online.

1. Look at the bottom of selector switch and you'll find 2 lines of parallel solder points  (5 dots each line)
----------------------
|   * * * * *         |
|                         |=====3 wire to board
|   * * * * *         |
----------------------

1=Acoustic 2=JC Clean 3=Black Panel 4=BritCombo 5=Classic 6=Rectifier .....
----------------------
|   * -  7 6 5         |
|                         |=====3 wire to board
|   * 1 2 3 4         |
----------------------
    ^
    |
    |_____ connect asterisk to any of the numbers to get your second sound.  (Of course this is where the footswitch come in)

I connected *and2 to get JC Clean when I press the footswitch. So if I select R-Fier on amp's selector switch, I get the R-FIER sound and when I press the FS it goes to JC CLean (U can choose anything higher on the amp's selector as long as it's higher than where you solder the wires for the footswitch but not lower or "equal to"... or the footswitch will not make a difference (did that make sense?). You can still dial acoustic on the selector to get acoustic sound (as in my case).

IMORTANT:  I made a hole on the side of the wood to connect the input jack for the foot switch.  I used the long threaded jack because of the thickness of the MDF.  Do not put the jack on the metal part of the amp's case because switching will not work.

Hope this helps.

i got one with a bad effects pot for 30 . i rehoused it in a lger box with two 6 jenson mods and a 12v 7ma sla . it has a tda2020 based 2 x 20 amp that runs off the stock line out jack . we are very happy with the performance of the amp as it is now . the footswitching and all that would be a nice addition but ... i really dont notice it being too bassy in the config it is now but ... we do run an eq and the micro tone setting s like 2 pm , close to high ... if i was using lger speakers though i am sure it would be too bassy . eventually i may get around to doing videos for the amps , but this was a very easy hack . it really does sound swell , edit , i did just add a coupla extention speaker jacks , now she will have a coupla 8's on it as well .
im learning , we'll thats what i keep telling myself

This was really helpful post and worked great. I actually made a instruction video about RecOut & footswitch mods:

Here is a test video:

.

Pedal is working great but I will add an dip switch to change other channel also. Now it's always JC Clean

Thanks!
