Hi all,

Has anyone had any experience with SR Passives potentiometers? Specifically the 16mm versions? I need to buy 500ish pots X 2 values and they are incredibly cheap at TME...

https://www.tme.eu/en/details/r16148-1a-2-b10k/carbon-single-turn-potentiometers/sr-passives/

I've seen one forum post on a Google search and a couple of people say they are as good (reliable, in spec, consistent) as Alpha, but I'd really want to get more opinions before buying. Obviously I'd make an order to sample a few first.

Further to this, does anyone have a cheap source for bulk 500+ qty per value pots?

Thanks
Jonathan

They look OK on spec. Alpha 16mm pots are only $0.50 each at Tayda. That's where I get mine from and I've never had a problem. I'm sure if you wanted to buy in bulk and contacted them directly they'd offer you some kind of discount?

If you're going to be buying thousands of them I'd give the distributor a call, they often have much lower prices than retailers publish online. I seem to recall we paid about 20 cents a pot for high quality Alps 16mm parts when buying in quantity back in the 90s.

$250 for 1000 here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32899470673.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.5d1655d2ddlO4H&algo_pvid=e7f5a6a9-b53c-4067-8915-a95018660223&algo_expid=e7f5a6a9-b53c-4067-8915-a95018660223-5&btsid=96aac6d9-3d45-4536-b028-253021a0ecc2&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_4,searchweb201603_53

I'm not familiar with the brand, but the picture looks a lot like an Alpha.  I wouldn't be totally surprised if these roll off the same assembly line.  One clue would be the country of origin, if you can find that out.  AFAIK Alphas are still made in Taiwan, as opposed to mainland China like most other bits these days.
