Howdy guys--haven't been on in months!!!

Sooooo, someone gave me a couple of old DOD delays to fix.  "You fix pedals, right?"

I can keep one of the two if I can get them up and running.  Are there any links to a fix for the common switch buggery these things used to have?  Everyone I know who had a DOD pedal back in the day had the switch break!

Do I just solder in a new mountain switch?  That'd be sweet!
Search is too vague on this one.  I don't want to TB them necessarily, just get them delay-ing again.

Thanks oh Gods of the Forum...

Do I just solder in a new mountain switch?
If the original switch is faulty and everything else is correct, that could fix it.
I'm not familiar with "Mountain switch".
Since these pedals have signal electronically switched to bypass/effect, the related electronics of course must be functional also.
Since the switch is 'right there'...
If it's a momentary contact switch, a test using momentary contact could be made by jumpering it.

yeah, i would hazard a guess that replacing the momentary switches with new ones will probably do the trick. dod momentaries are known to go bad and need replacement...replacement...replacement....

Yes, I've fixed many of these.
Go to Mouser.com and search for 'tactile switches'.
Measure the size of the old one and look for a suitable replacement.
Just glancing at the catalog in front of me, it looks like Omron would be the best bet, they make 6 and 12mm sizes.
IIRC, the DOD switches were a little on the large side, so probably 12mm or so.
Omron's 12mm's would be part #'s B3F-4000, 4005 and 5000.
The difference is in the required operating force, which may or may not matter.
If it's 10mm, look up ALPS part #SKQBAL.

Whichever pedal you get to keep, I'd just cut out and install a piece of solid plastic to mount a nice robust momentary switch on. No use dealing with those switches that will just need replacing in another 6 months.

true you could replace the switch however i just soldered a wire from the ground on the output jack and melted the other end into the plastic switch till it was flush and then i did the same thing except i melted the mountain switch and as long as theyre not touching in the rest position and and touch when you press the pedal then youre good to go! kinda redneck but works better than the original switch!

You can still buy the DOD switches from them (last time I looked, a couple of months ago), also they are sold on Ebay for a little more.  There is still a DOD website, and there is a parts link.

I had an old DOD equalizer given to me after the switch went. Or so we thought.  I cracked her open and discovered that the momentary switch was fine, it just wasn't mounted solidly enough to switch every time. Little hot glue and she was good to go.  Whatever works eh?

Hello I, I realize this is a very old topic but I was wondering if you guys could help me out with the wiring of an old DOD fx55b. A couple wires aren't connects and I believe one is missing. If any of you have a gut shot that would help alot!

An old topic but same problem.

Trying to replace DOD switch
Can the seller's spec replace the old one?

Specifications:

Mouting Style: Through Hole
Mouting Pin: 4 Pins
Dimension: 12mm x 12mm
Button Dia.: 6.5mm

I've got an old DOD fx35 octoplus that I'd replaced the switch with a 1/4 jack and used a remote switch for a long time, but it looks pretty ugly and I just want to put a normal switch in and its already got a hole drilled from the 1/4 jack, but I can't seem to put the right switch in. I'd thought it was momentary spdt, but that doesnt work. Any ideas what the actual switch is? Thanks

The switch is a momentary SPST.  Only one connection is made.

Chrisfromiowa

Wait, spst, I always get those mixed up. So unless its Roland or Boss its the always on variety, right? Thanks

Figured I'd keep this thread going; it's got some good info.

When I removed my broken switch (for replacement) the little piece of metal that looks like a thin rod with a loop at one end and right angle at the other popped out from underneath. I'm not exactly sure how to position it back into the pedal. I've also never heard it mentioned before in any of these DOD switch threads. Anyone know about this? Here's a pic..
