antonis - your Q3 bias might go a bit off without the decouple cap.

That $#@# happens when modyfing other people's schematics..

@Banjan73: In case of use Q3 buffer, place a cap on its wiper..
(or on Volume pot lug 1, which I smell it's Stephen's preference..)

Hi.
I have now fine tuned the circuit. New now is the use of a capacitor to earth from emitter on Q2 also.
The circuit is tested with sound and scope from breadboard, and I think it`s working quite well. Lots of distortion and volume control is perfect. Nice square waves. I finally understood the meaning of the caps in paralell with the emitter resistor ;-)
Here`s hopefully the last version (if I don`t tweak it even more). 6.8uF is "enough" to square up the Q2 sufficient. Some components are already ordered (pots and caps):

Agreed - gain pot lug numbers are backwards. First pin should go to ground?

Well. The numbers aren't that critical. When I solder the pots, I will off course check that gain/volume increases with clockwise movement..
