First off, I know it's old and not supported:  That said

I am trying to figure out is how to "hover over a part" and have it right-clickable for editing?   It works every now and then, but mostly not.   If I have patience, I can find the part by number on the right, but I'm trying to clean up "Cut Traces" a 3" x 4" piece.  I think there are 90+ cuts.  (not a stomp box, fwiw)

Not sure if this will solve your issue, but sometimes when I can't seem to select components placed on top of veroboard in DIYLC, I select the veroboard, then right click, choose Transform Selection>Send Backward and that will force DIYLC to think of that component to be further back in terms of selection and makes it easier to select a specific resistor or capacitor for example.

Another technique that sometimes works is enlarging the magnification of the screen. Go to the bottom right of the interface to a drop down menu that says 100%, click on that and try 200% or more, and that makes selecting difficult components easier.

Third technique (although it requires you to have set things up beforehand) is to use the Layers menu and place the board / PCB / vero etc on the Board layer, then lock that layer. Next move to the Component layer and add the components there. Yeah, I rarely remember to be that organized either.

I don't know why selection of objects can be so difficult in visual interfaces; but I work with really expensive 3D software at work and that still has frequent issues selecting objects that are directly under the cursor, so I won't complain when DIYLC is free and can't always do it.

Double left click mayhap? That's what I do since right clicking didn't work and I assumed wasn't supported. Don't know what version I'm using.
