I built this pedal to specs and it sounds great but has very low volume.

Supposing below schematic corresponds to your build layout..

Check for MID pot lug 1 proper grounding..
Also check for R15 proper value..
"I'm getting older while being taught all the time" Solon the Athenian..
"I don't mind  being taught all the time but I do mind a lot getting old" Antonis the Thessalonian..

The only thing I can see wrong on your board is a 1.5k in place of a 1.8k.  That may not matter at all.  What I see off the board is that you've soldered to the rivets on the pots, which can cause them to malfunction.

Unclereaper

Ya I only had a 1.5 and that is always how I solder pots is that really wrong?

Unclereaper

Yep I resoldered the treble pot and its loud but now it squeals

temol

Does it squeal regardless of the gain and vol potentiometers settings? You should make all the pot wiring as short as possible. Try to use shielded in/out wire. What are the jfet drain voltages? 4.5V?

Replaced all the pots and rebiased the jfets and it all came alive thanks all for the advice.
