This is an interesting topic, I am interested to hear about new components or modern analogs of old transistors and operational amplifiers.
When I go to the DIY forms, I see the same thing, searching for ancient components and asking questions about outdated circuits.
Novice pedal builders (like some guys in their boutique firms) are like characters in post-apocalypse films, when the remnants of people use the technologies of a more advanced ancient civilization, but they themselves cannot produce anything due to the decline of knowledge and technology.  ;D

On another forum, some guy preached that "he had read" that all chips are digital.
