Hey guys. I've been thinking about adding potentiometer dials, and marks for switch positions. Anyone have a source, image, or vector? One of the things I'm looking for is markers like Matamp and Orange. Cheers.

friendly reminder: all holes are positive and have negative weight, despite not being there.

I found quite a few a while ago just by googling something like potentiometer dial graphics

Some of them has been floating around here as well.

There's a free Inkscape extension that's designed for doing this job:

I had a play with it, but I haven't tried it out seriously. Seemed good at first look.

Cheers guys. Some of those will work. The issue I have TBH has more to do with rotary switch marks. I'm unsure of the exact placement for each connection.

then make sure that the symbols are separate pieces you can stick the enclosure on the right places, after mounting the switch and knob.

Switches are often on 30 degree increments (12 ways in 360 degrees).

Pots are nominally 270 degrees span and divisions are arbitrary (5-0-5, 0-10, 0-12, etc).

Cheers PRR, that's exactly what I needed to know. iainpunk I don't use stickers I etch my enclosures, so that wouldn't really work for me.

I use punch marks for this kind of thing. Turn the knob, punch through the finish to mark it, then use a small drill on a slow speed to widen the diameter of the mark. Only gives you dots, and you need to take care with spacing, but can look alright if you get lucky.

A few years ago I made a few in vanilla Inkscape. Using just the rotation tools. Worked better than the extensions for the visual I wanted.

I wanted to do some silkscreens for electro etching, but never ordered the screens.

I'm pretty sure there's a "graphics" thread somewhere around these parts.  ???   Could be mistaken.  Coffee levels low: not fully awake...  ::)

I found a couple of threads here and here.  Apart from pictures, there's also a pile of links which I've not followed.  They may end up somewhere useful.

+1 agree about the switches, but pots are more variable in my experience. 300 degree rotation is also common. "Read the datasheet for the part you're using" is still good advice, it turns out. I might even actually do it one day.

> nominally 270 degrees

"Nominally" may mean 300 deg mechanical and 270 deg of electrical change. Or whatever. Commodity pot specs are NOT standardized, not even against their own datasheets (if any).
