Hey all:

Hoping to get some sage advice on how to troubleshoot a Big Cheese Clone I just built. This is only my second build, so still getting my sea legs here.

Basically, I'm getting a signal, but there's very little sustain. The tone crackles and then fades on any note, especially if I've got the fuzz pot cranked up.

I'm using stripboard, and was able to find some solder bridges by checking continuity with my DMM. But I'm stumped when it comes to figuring out why the signal is so crackly.

Here's the layout: http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2015/12/lovetone-big-cheese.html

And here's audio of the signal I'm getting: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yNvYY2IX5-uaZAH7gWclpZFkBY4uqjOR/view?usp=sharing

Help!
George

we want a circuit diagram. we want photos of what you bilt - all of it. we want voltages on all transistors, IC's, supplies. there might be more we want, but we won't know until we don't get it.

thank you.

What DA said, but in a more disciplined way. Read the stickie message that always appears at the top of the forum. It's titled "What to do when it doesn't work".

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
