Hi All. I am working on trying to understand a transistor amplifier stage I've been playing with and have a couple questions.

Firstly, the schematic:

So, I see that it is a transistor amplifier, but is using a combination of an NPN and a PNP. It isn't a Mu Amp or a Sziklai pair, but I am not sure "what it is". Interestingly enough, the waveform is pretty cool.

Green being a 100mV 1kHz input signal, blue being the output.

Aside from the bias being a bit off, it looks like the signal isn't really amplified at all, as a buffer, but the -1.0V dips clearly shows a sign of amplification.

So how does this work?
Does this topology have a name?
Should I have drawn the schematic differently, and that would have helped me answer my own two first questions?

What say all you folks?

where/what is that originating from, if I may ask? it looks like "a doubler", but it also looks to be missing bias, and a resistor to ground, and it looks miswired.

its a voltage follower and a Bazz Fuss in one, as the diode function of the PNP basically does what the Bazz Fuss's diode does as well, but its connection to ground makes it a voltage follower when the NPN is not conducting at all.
i used this topology in a fuzz pedal before, with a 100k instead of the 10k, and it was driven by a Jfet gain stage.
later found out that Devi Ever also used in in one of his fuzzes.

cheers
friendly reminder: all holes are positive and have negative weight, despite not being there.

Thanks all, yeah, that was a real "duh" moment for me there. I've used transistors as diodes for other things too and just didn't see it.
