Dallas Rangemaster PCB & schematic suggestion.

Hello guys,

I'm planning on building a Dallas Rangemaster next, for my 1st experience with a Ge transistor. I have a PNP Ge transistor at hand with hFe of around 100, according to the seller who said measured it with a proper testing equipment. It's a japan made A104.



Wich PCB you guys would suggest me using? If I can etch it myself even better.
I only have common 9v batteries and a regulated 9v power supply I use for my other stompboxes.

for such a simple/minimalist circuit, i'd go for a pad-per-hole perf board.
also, i urge you to use a socket and not solder the Ge directly!!!! the heat of soldering might fry the insides, and swapping transistors is fun way to chase tone

How could I add a led to show me if it's on/off in such circuit?

Gonna go look for the components at the store, I remember having here some 47uf tantalum caps, should I use there or go after some radial electros?

To head off potential messy headaches, stick with battery power for this one, minimal current draw so batteries last very well.

If you go for turrets (which is fun!), then be aware that they need a bit more heat to get the solder flowing properly and to avoid cold joints.  Which is exactly what you don't want for a Ge transistor.  So turn up the heat on the iron and use heatsinks.  Or a socket.
