I´m working on repairing a BOSS RV-5 reverb that works fine but has a broken pot (the "mode" pot/ the shaft broked). I am looking for substitute on the internet but i am having a hard time finding. The schematics is here https://www.audioservicemanuals.com/b/boss/boss-rv/329758-boss-rv-5-digital-reverb-schematic .  It seems like it´s a 50k linear pot, but it has 6 positions. It has 3 pins like a regular 50k pot, so i believe it is really a potentiometer rather than a rotary switch. I will post the pic here. Any thoughts on substitutes? I have searched the internet with the code written on the schematics with no sucess ...

"except for the shaft, it looks very much like a standard 9mm pot. what do you mean by six positions, does it click each time?"

Thanks for the reply, brother!
Exactly,  it has like a half turn and it click/stop at each position(6 total). But tried to measure it and it really work like a regular pot, changing its resistance whenever you try to rotate it.

hmmm. pics I've seen have the mode pot on the right hand side. it seems that one pot has a different alpha part #, which probably indicates that it has indents, and is intended for microprocessor reading of some sort. so a 50k pot would work, but would be imprecise for selection.

oh. does the flat cable bend up over around? I see.

Yeah,  it does bend over and goes to the microprocessor. I ve found a similar pot used in some roland stuff. It is a regular 50k pot with 5 clicks in 6 stances.  It Kind of split the resistance in each click,  giving different values.

You can get an 11-click-position version of that 9mm pot as a standard part, although they're not that common (Banzai Music have them in Germany). That'd give you an intermediate position between the Boss positions, but at least you'd get a stop in the right places too.

Or go the simple way with a normal pot, and just use the marked positions as a guide. Does the pedal's firmware turn the pot's output into 6 discrete values anyway? (I've often done this myself - pots are much cheaper and easier than rotary switches, and only use one pin on the processor).

I am not aware of the firmware but i do believe the 11 click pot or a regular one will fit perfectly! Thanks a lot for the reply and insights on this subjects, brothers!

I have had this same problem with the RV-5.

Full compass has them but the wait time is in the weeks:

Part #F3229131R0
POT, MODE BOSS RV5
$7.26 each

I always get a couple so that shipping is free (threshold is $25).

If you don't want to wait, DM me and I'll ship you one for $10.

Thank you so much brother but a friend from France ended up sending me one he had from a broken rv5 unity!
Thanks for the help :)
