Question about high leakage PNP Transistors

I have some OC72's that when tested with my Peak DCA55 show about 110 hfe and .600-1.1 leakage which is obviously very high. I was wondering if high leakage transistors like this could still be used in say a fuzz face if there was a bias pot for both q1 and q2? Or is it more about tone, maybe high leakage germaniums don't sound good? I've never tried them so not sure. Thanks!

You can try using a third transistor C-B backwards across the Q1. That should counteract some of the leakage. I've been experimenting with that but other projects are half finished so...............maybe in a year lol.

Better try it with a thermistor in place of bias pot.. :icon_wink:
