Hi everyone !

I'm building the Dekadent (Peavey Decade clone)  from DeadEndFX and their build doc asks for a "1n5817 Zener".

I have ordered multiple 1n5817 in the past, but I only find that it's a schottky type diode. Anyone ever heard of a zener 1n5817 ?

Thank you !

bean

I think that's just a typo. The 1n5817 is a Schottky rectifier diode.

Yep.  I agree with Brian.

There ARE zener diodes, whose part number is 1N58x7, and Peavey has used back-to-back zener diodes in some applications, although I can't see any 5817-numbered parts in my list.  Good idea to verify that the diode in question IS 5817, and not 5837/47/57/67, etc.

On the schematic it looks like the 1n5817 is a series diode for power polarity protection. A bad place for a zener..to prevent reverse voltage unless over some value? Not likely... But reasonable place to put a schotky for low forward voltage drop.

Just be clear. The "1N5817" part is correct. The "Zener" part is the typo.

+1 agree. The 1N5817 schottky diode is a typical part for this polarity protection job because of the low voltage drop, and "zener" is just a typo (copy-paste error?).

Def a typo... since I wrote it. :icon_rolleyes:  :icon_lol:

Just roll with the 1N5817.

Guess I have something to do tomorrow.

EDIT - Corrected.
