Veroboard layout and trimmers- simple question for wiring (4 Band Gyrator EQ)

Hopefully, this is a dumb/easy set of questions to answer.

I have built several perfboard circuits with good success, but wanted to give stripboard/veroboard a try.  I am hoping to make the 4 Band Gyrator EQ from Guitar FX Layouts (http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2014/05/4-band-gyrator-eq.html).  I was going to use the trimmers suggested for the R2. 

Problems: 

1.  When I look at the depiction, the R2's span 4 strips, but the trimmers are designed to span 3 strips.  Should I bend the legs to accommodate the needed 4 strip span. 

2.  The trimmers have 3 legs, but the depiction is for two legs.  My initial thought was to wire either posts 1 and 2 together or 2 and 3 together.  Is this a correct solution?

Some of the R2s span four, some five (R2B). If you want to replace them with trimmers yes, you would attach one of the legs to the wiper. (not necessary, but reduces noise if you adjust it and the wiper skips a little from the track). If you attach 1, then CCW=high resistance. If you attach 3, then CW in high resistance. So you would want to think about whether high ohms = high freq or low.

Then you will need some component lead or single conductor wire to attach them to the board, a little awkward and prone to failure if you adjust them much. You might think of adding a resistor in series with the pot because you probably don't want to go to 0 ohms. Something smaller than the suggested values....

Sabrotone has a great 3 band fully parametric layout. Freq, Q, boost/cut, and people add a gain control very easily.

keep in mind that the Q of the filters will wildly vary with frequency. higher frequencies will have more and a narrower boost than the lower frequencies. it can be remedied by changing the capacitors in the gyrators, instead of the resistor. i suggest socketing and trying by experimentation/auditioning different value capacitors.

It sounds like a better build would be to use fixed resisters to match the band desired and consider socketing the caps. 

The Sabrotone does look like a good option, but I don't have the necessary pots for that build....
