If you also see continuity when pedal is engaged or in buffered bypass then you have a switching problem.

2 pages for something self-explanatory.. :icon_wink:

I got some spare ics and another charge pump, i tried them and to the opposite of letting the sound go through I now have so lo-fi almost no sound, i will try a few combination and ill check the voltage given

A lot of post revolves around the tantalum capacitor being installed in reverse , could I replace it with an electrolytic capacitor of same value ?

ok, something has happened and now your voltages look normal. The important thing is that the OpAmps are getting power to pin 8 and ground or -v to pin 4, and that the other pins are biased to the midpoint voltage 4.5v. Its looking better.

From those numbers you appear to have a potentially working pedal. Does it make sound?

If you still have no sound you will have to make an audio probe. (debugging page)
Then we will follow the sound. In and out of 4 opamp stages.

since its a switching issue I ditched the daughterboard to connect a true bypass 3pdt but it is still not working I still have to wire the d.sw wire if it does anything but anything buffered output was removed

nevermind I need to connect them at the proper place or else I have no signal going to the germanium diodes. if someone could guide me to the right place to connect them that would be useful

Why do you believe it is a switching issue? You have continuity in true bypass, which you should, and not in the other modes. Before you go messing with the alternate switching may I suggest making sure the circuit works?

What do you mean, no signal to diodes? Are you signal tracing? Do you have signal up to that point?

Mentioning "d Sw" implies that you are aware of an unusual aspect to the Klon bypass: when in bypass mode the signal is grounded at the diodes. This prevents "bleed through" of overdrive/clipped signal in bypass. is that what you mean?

So, to get a signal while you are experimenting with unplugging the footswitch daughter board, that's what you are trying to do? You don't need Dsw to go anywhere during your trouble shooting. That connection is only to mute the clipped signal during bypass.

You do need to make sure you know where the in and out of the board are. The two molex type connectors marked 1b and 3b... one has a pad marked "in" and the other has a pad marked "FX. Those are the ones you want to connect to. But if you are signal tracing you only need to get signal to "in," and your probe will allow you to get "out" from various points.
