I'm about ready to dive into my box of germanium transistors to build some pedals and was wondering if there was a site that lists the requirements for different germanium fuzz pedals?  I was looking for something along the lines of this:

Tone Bender MK1
Q1 gain and leakage
Q2 gain and leakage
Q3 gain and leakage

and so on for the different Tone Benders, fuzz faces, and others.

Try this:

That page lists gains, but no numbers for leakage. I'm not sure if you'll find any numbers for any "desired" or "optimal" leakage. Have you read R.G. Keen's article on the fuzz face?

I just built a Zonk Machine a couple of months ago for the first time, never had messed with that one or the Tonebender MK1. I didn't bother measuring my PNP GE stash I have accrued from estate sales and radio rips. After researching, I ended up breadboarding the circuit and just popping in various transistor combos until I got something that sounded amazing. Have no idea if it sounds like an original but sounds amazing. Transistor auditioning took hours but hours of fun. It was easy to get an ok sounding circuit but took some time to get some combos that knocked my socks off. I supposed I should have measured what I settled with but didn't have the patience and built a circuit board and boxed it up and that's that...
