Hi everyone, I have a Boss CE-1 that I'm bringing back to life. It's working fine except for one thing which is that the Peak Level indicator LED doesn't work as expected. Even if you really overload the input on High with the effect engaged, signal fully in fuzz territory, the LED barely illuminates, and when it does it's latent - almost like it's getting the signal delayed. I've replaced all the electrolytics anyway, and have also
replaced the C22 82n capacitor. All the resistors between the Q2 emitter and the LED are fine as is the diode. I'm guessing it's the A733 transistors but wondered if there was an easy way of checking this without a scope?

Could you check for -500mV (or so) on Q2 Emitter..??

Yeah all good on that front. I actually solved the issue last night. On a hunch I did a diode check on the LED and got nothing in either polarity. There was obviously an intermittent issue with it because it did actually illuminate from time to time. But according to the meter it was dead so I replaced it and it now works perfectly. The only issue is that the replacement LED is a little smaller than the original which is 4mm. I can only get the 4mm from RS in quantities of 50 plus $13 shipping so not really worth it.
