Ever been banned from buying from a pedal component seller?

It's a shame people hate money so much. Guess this seller didn't get the memo that his disposable income is about to drop by an average of 7%!

Musselburgh-based (England). I have to wonder if there's some bigotry or NI-Brexit-related nonsense going on in their head. I can't see anything offensive whatsoever (your marketing is quite tactful, really).

This is absolutely incredible behavior on the sellers part. I've never heard of somebody preemptively banning a buyer with no previous history.

Do you make potentially offensively themed pedals? (e.g. anti-religious, political, rude words) If not do you have ideas what they didn't like about you? And how did they even find you? Are you an alternate parts seller on ebay?

QuoteAnother possibility: the parts are fake and the seller knows it
Absent any other context, this is the only thing I can wrap my head around.

I've never made offence pedals or remarks. I don't even personally hold any views I would consider offensive, not that I share my personal views anyway. Strange indeed.

Just a quick update.

Since I had been looking at this sellers items, I got an automatic email from eBay today saying the seller has now reduced the price of the rolls of 100 diodes. These are the rolls I previously told the seller I was willing to buy at full price.

Anyway, I emailed him now that he has made the price drop, and I've asked him if I am still banned from using his electronic components, as I still would buy them. I await a response.

It just gets weirder. So I now have to tell the guy that although he would not allow me to buy them at full price, can I now buy them at his discount offer price.  :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

This world is so confusing...

No wonder! If they keep turning buyers down, it's no surprise they're not selling many diodes!

Do you even want his dirty lie-odes?

Not particularly, no. Not now anyway. I've already bought a batch elsewhere. The seller on this occasion did not critique my worthiness to give him money, fortunately.

This seller is offering 'matched pairs' of 1n34a for £12!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334634897885?hash=item4de9cb51dd:g:EUkAAOSwrzdig4d2

nice work if you can get it, I suppose

For those who don't click the link - this isn't for octave circuits, it's for Klones. So matching (if it has actually been done, which I doubt) would, I assume, be somewhere between irrelevant and detrimental.

Doesn't say at what temperature the Ge diodes are matched. But I'm sure this is totally legit  :icon_lol:

No mention either of the alignment of his chakra crystals.  Man.   :icon_rolleyes:

Actually, I went and paid a visit to the listing page.  I love that he boasts that the sound with these diodes and his original KTR is indistinguishable.  Preaching to the converted, I know, but this is an overdrive pedal and this is rock'n'roll, right?   :icon_lol:

Ok - now I am being paranoid lol.

My PayPal account was just suspended for review. I have been using PayPal for as long as I can remember - and I use it for pedal sales on Reverb and eBay.

I've just spent the evening going through a review and proof process. I've had to supply receipts for supplies I have bought in, and for sales I have made going out. I have had to give various forms of photo ID, and descriptions on what goods I generally deal with.

Very strange. Never had anything of this in all my years of using PayPal. They are using my last pedal sale as an example, and making me provide all sorts of detailed info about it. I contacted that buyer and they said they never contacted PayPal or any sales platform, nor do they have any issue or heard from anyone. So it seems they just picked his order randomly.

I dunno - just strikes me that this could have been flagged by someone else. And I only know one person who ever questioned the quality or products I built for sale... and thats the same component seller mentioned within this thread, who banned me as a buyer.

Seems this one keeps getting stranger...  :icon_rolleyes: :icon_rolleyes: :icon_rolleyes:

To be honest, that train of events would incline a person to paranoia, so although you *are* being paranoid, I think that's justifiable. It's like that old joke, "Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't watching me!"

The most reasonable explanation in the unusual circumstances is that the Paypal investigation has been triggered in some way by the strange behaviour. That might be because the seller has reported you, or it might be because Paypal's algorithms have detected a seller blocking you and decided it merits further investigation. Either way, it's nothing you've done.

My paypal account was suspended for review like half a year ago. I had to answer 7 questions.

I think that had more to do with paiements as friends being suspicious to them ,as I had

alot of them,so they assumed I sold these items  as a business. Now as you are not covered anymore

against fraud , if you sell as friend ,they will get the fees they were missing.

Alot of terms of service changing at paypal this year, so I probably missed reading one or two of their mails.
Keep on soldering!

If they won't sell to you I suggest you simply take it as a compliment.

They don't want to risk your product being so much better than what they their other customers sell that they ultimately lose business. Unfortunately, they weren't raised right and felt the need to be rude and aggressive to save face. ;)

That was my initial thought as well.

I saw the error message multiple times. The last time I wanted to buy a cd from a guy I bought one a few years ago. Either he has a strange configuration or ebay is just messing this up. He did not reply to a message on ebay but I was able to buy it in his regular web shop.
Maybe I should ask him directly what's wrong.

Hey all,

Strange one this. I've been on the look out for a batch of Toshiba 1S1588 diodes. I found a UK seller on eBay, so I decided to buy from him. He is selling strips of 10, or reels of 100. I thought I'd just go ahead and buy in 100 of them.

Firstly, I need to emphasis that the seller is listing them, in the title itself, as parts specifically for making KOT clones. In fact, he is also selling bundles of both diodes needed to build them. So they are quite specific that these parts are being listed specifically for building the clone in question.

When I clicked buy, I got an error message saying "This seller isn't accepting bids or offers from you".

Being curious, I messaged the guy to explain that since he is in the business of selling parts of pedals, I am a customer here to buy as many of them as I can. Sounds like good business, right?

Well, no. He wrote back to explain that he had blocked me from before I ever attempted to buy from him. He had the foresight to look me up, and block me just incase I ever tried to buy from him. He sited that he didn't think my pedals were worthy of his parts - and that he didn't want to be part of my business in any way. I'm not sure why, really. I explained to him that he is already advertising by naming another brand, and specifically saying he is selling parts to make clones of them. I am not sure why I'd be portrayed as less trustworthy or ethical than his own standards. Quite frustrating really. Anyone else ever suffer this?

Also, anyone else know where I can get these diodes at a reasonable price to the UK vicinity?

Thanks all.

sounds to me like he has a limited supply and wants to max profit for himself.

i contacted an anal log dude a while back, that i'd been "friends" with for years a couple years ago.

said, hey dewwwwwd, wanna build myself a really top dawg fuzzface, something pricey and stupid that i won't use and don't need, but wanna do anyways...

was informed that IF they sold me the pair of transistors i enquired about, "it would be one less of my pedals, and that just wouldn't be fair to myself cuz there would be one less (insert ridiculously overpriced/hyped stack of gov'nor pedals name here )".

seriously.

seriously?

i bet ya know where my opinion of this joker sank to.

that said, one time, here on the forum, i had an asshole ask for a source for ge transistors. i told them of where to go, and said specifically, only take what you need, so there will be some for everybody.

they @#$%ing bought out the entire goddamn @#$%ing stock. so ya know, in that respect, i can see not selling rare shit to anyone in bulk.

by helping someone out, it ended up screwing us all.

sorry ya gotta deal with this guy. what a hoser.
