Loop switcher (sort of) - A/B + Loop

Hi all,

I was just about to start building this thing but now have doubts whether this would even work.

I have a preamp/distortion pedal with two outputs, one output is the distortion output to be plugged into the front of an amp, the other is a preamp output that goes into the return of the effects loop. Both outputs of that pedal will be connected into the input of this loop switcher with a Y-cable.

The 4pdt in one position will take the signal from the distortion output and send it to the front of an amp through the send/return loop. This way I can use the pedal as a distortion stompbox and also use the clean and dirty channels of my amp. In the other position the signal will come from the preamp output and pass directly through and into the return on my amp. In this position I am using the clean/dirty channels of my preamp pedal completely bypassing the amplifier's preamp section.

1. Am I missing any grounds here? Does this thing even remotely make any sense?

2. Instead of the 4pdt is it possible to use some type of a relay or something to engage this thing remotely (similar to Switchback with Red Remote by JHS)?

Thank you all in advance!
