Troubleshooting Benson Preamp clone

Hi, I was attempting to make one using this schematic, but getting no sound when switch is on.
Bypass sounds good, LED lights up well, no cold joints as I tested with a multimeter multiple times.
One thing is though, the voltage reads 1.5, 1.2, 1.2 on each drain on three j201s(left to right) even with the trim pot maxed out, as opposed to 5.2, 4, 4 volts, which seems to be the proper amount of voltage to get some sounds.
What I don't understand is, I've tried measuring voltage with no transistors on the same points, and read 9v straight even after all the resistors and trim pots.
I'm not an electrician nor an engineer, I don't have any clue of what is causing this problem at all, shouldn't there be some voltage drop after resistors?

With no transistors on board, you shour read about 9V on respective Drains and 0V or Gates and Sources.. :icon_wink:

Only if there is current flow.

The ideal volt meter is "Zero current".

Today a $9.95 DMM can be "10Meg". Assume your drain resistors are 50k and write the voltage divider for 50k/10Meg. For 9.000V in you expect 8.955V which is darn near 9 volts.

Tack 100 Ohms across the 1k source resistors. (Do just one at first.) Is that better?

Check your JFET pin out.  Make sure you consider looking from the top of the device vs looking from the bottom.

If you reported your voltages at both ends of the trimpot settings it might be possible to deduce some more info.
