I'm about to buy some enclosures and I was wondering if any of the 1590B substitute boxes are as deep as the old MXR small box?   My ancient D+ looks like it's about 1/16" deeper than the Hammond, which is enough to not squash the battery connector.

(I have emailed a couple vendors, but no replies yet.)

A lot of people like the taiwanese 125-B that Small Bear Electronics sells. It's bigger than the old MXR Bud case, and can easily accomodate that D+ circuit and a battery. The dimensions for the 125-b are 4.7" long x 2.4" wide x 1.6" high....I think that makes it just slightly wider and longer than the original, and a good 1/2" taller.

Anyway, that is one suggestion. They work great for me!

That is tall.  125B then.  Thanks.

I use 'em too. The ribs inside it make the box stronger (so you can run a 3-ton vehicle over it rather than a 2-ton one :D) but they also make the inside of the box smaller. I think they're of a better quality than any of the Hammonds I've ordered. But then again, I might have got those from a bad batch.

The 125Bs are great boxes because eventhough they are larger than 1590B boxes they are about the same size as boss pedals. That is, when a 125B is next to a Boss pedal the footswitch is at the same height as the boss. I like that.

I did a photo study of the 125B vs the 1590B...

The Yellow and purple ones are 125B.
The raw and red ones are 1590B.
It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.

My apologies in resurrecting an ancient post, but I think it's worth noting that Hammond now has a 1590B2. It's the same footprint as the 1590B, but just over 1/4" deeper. There is enough room for batteries & top mounted jacks, but it doesn't take up any more space on the pedalboard!
