your 100uF cap is always backwards. the (+) end of the cap ALWAYS goes to the more positive voltage. in this instance, supply is more positive than ground, 0V, earth. so that means the (-) end of the electro, which always goes towards the more negative voltage, goes to ground/0V.

if you don't know which will be the more and less positive than, use your multimeter. measure. one will read higher, one lower -- especially when you are supply bypassing.

and that gain cap between pin 1 and 8 is a special case -- look up the datsheet***, and see how they orient that cap. follow what they tell you, cause they know.

*** what am I saying, of COURSE you have all the datasheets right there in front of you already, don't you.

Do you have the cap off of pin 7? In some designs it ends up being critical.

So - I bridged a 10nf cap from pin 7 to ground. No difference.  :icon_cry:

Should be 10uF, 1000 times bigger.

+1 for needing a cap from Pin 7 to ground.  It provides an AC ground in the power supply that rejects supply-related feedback.
Maybe not necessary at minimum gain (20), but essential at higher gain.
