In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

It is 22mA for part of 3 milliSeconds.

I don't think it is an LED killer.

Not sure how long a 10ยต cap will hold charge in that configuration. Only "perfect" caps would hold the charge permanently. Real caps especially aluminum electros will eventually discharge. Seconds? Minutes? Hours? ...

The more the cap "imperfection" the better for LED health.. :icon_wink:

A fully discharged cap is ideal for RC time constant delay estimation..

A fully discharged cap is ideal for RC time constant delay estimation..

But how would it help with switch pop?

It will depend on the LED and the supply voltage, but it's the bright flash that's the main problem. Why risk it? Is there some advantage to using 330 vs say 1k?

By progressively decreasing shunt LED current...

Has anyone tried the LED from a laser pointer as their indicator?  It could be made less dangerous with a diffuser but you could probably use one at low current where the bypass pop would be less than normal.  You can get them in all the colours that LED's are made in.

These Lamps are very bright, see size compared to a red led.
