It seems all the documentation on the Danelectro Daddy O mods have been lost and not even the Wayback Machine can display them.  Anyone have any info on modding a stock Daddy O to Guvnor specs?

Hi,

Welcome to the forum =)

I always thought the Daddy-o was a 1:1 clone. You can take the long way: trace your Daddy-o and compare to the Guvnor schematics that are available.

Sorry to revive this... Thing is I recently acquired one.
No schematic is verified. I see a Brian Wampler has covered this but the links are dead...
In short: a guv'nor / drivemaster with buffered in and out with some parts tweaked?

Buffered IN,no,,
Buffered OUT, no..
Boosted OUT, yes,,

The Daddy O is buffered and the Guvnor is not.

I ment the Danelectro ... ;)

This is a trace I've seen on the net.

It is probably FULL of errors. As posted by some. And the remarks actually report that many parts are the same as in the guv'nor. Such as the chip being TL072, some different part values being the ones as in the guv'nor etc etc
Besides the errors, it looks like guv'nor with added in and out buffer. And I will check some parts myself.

Is the original Guv'nor ever reported as fizzy (decay)?

In theory, yes..
In practice, it should be a dead silent effect (either ON or Bypassed) due to that  :o  ::)  >:(  100μF cap between power supply & Q1 Emitter.. :icon_wink:

P.S.
IMHO, too much trouble for Q1 buffer..
In case of bias drift due to input bias current through 1M (original value) resistor, it could be settled by wiring up the 100k (new value) bias resistor on 100nF/2k2 junction and 2k2 lower leg on (A)..
Or just make IC1a bias resistor value equal to Q1 equivalent input impedance (about 450k) and walk in peace..

Yes, that buffer is not an obligatory design element. The 10k input resistor is a joke. And the 20k output pot on the low side after the passive eq and considering all that buffer effort compared to the original... the eq filter seems different from the Guv'nor...
I need some measuring inside. This schematic sucks.
