It seems like no current flowing through D-S channel.. :icon_wink:
(no voltage drop across 5k6 resistor..)

Check the circuitry around JFET and/or the health of the JFET itself..
Or better, verify the firm contact between JFET pins and socket..!! :icon_wink:

Quote from: PRR on October 04, 2023, 12:41:21 AMThe values of these resistors should be nearly equal, but can vary over a very wide range 10k to maybe a Meg. Someone found a box of 31.6k under the bench and made good use of them. Like the time  a box of 47 Ohm 2 Watt fell off a truck in front of me-- I was series-ing 47s for everything for years.

hmm, yes, this is how it starts. but then someone finds Jack White using on of your builds, Paul, and then they need to copy it to the ohm to get that sound. and then they put the schem out there, and everyone old enough gets grumpy about unthought values.

ToneRangerAudio - my eyes need recalibrating, please, help me out here. exactly what values have you fitted to the board in all those arrowed positions, especially next to the jfet? I can't see an orange band in that pic to save my life.

It certainly seems like Björn Juhl came into possession of a lifetime's supply of 14.7K (and evidently 31.6K) resistors, as 14.7K shows up on nearly every one of his circuits and 15K almost never does.  ???

In addition to having to having to change a few resistors that appear to be the wrong value, you have missed one "cutout" - removing the copper around one hole. Have a look at the image below. I've highlighted the area of interest in green.

Antonis has also mentioned that there appears to be no current flow in the 5.6K resistor associated with the JFET. That is because there is a 2M2 resistor on its source connection and not a 2K2 resistor. That resistor is immediately to the right of the JFET.

Eagle eye, Ian..!!

Both for the missing cut and Source resistor value.. :icon_wink:
