This is my 1st build. I thought to start simple. It's an Aion Aphelion (distortion+). The pedal "works". I need to turn up the volume and distortion all the way to hear anything through my amp, but compared to when the pedal is off it's very very quiet.

Here are the voltages on the lm741
1 - 0
2 - 4.42
3 - 2.26
4 - 0
5 - 0
6 - 4.45
7 - 9.43
8 - 0

I'm not sure where to even start ...

Thanks for any help!

Voltages are OK.. :icon_wink:
(pin 3 low reading is probably due to low DMM impedance..)

Does output sound low for all clipping diodes settings..??

P.S.
"Vintage" style reproduction is OK but, IMHO, R6/R7 values are ridiculously high..

"I don't mind  being taught all the time but I do mind a lot getting old" Antonis the Thessalonian..

Thanks and yes, the output is very low for each of the diode selections, but I can hear a difference when i switch them (in quality / tone not volume), so that part of the circuit seems to be working ....

Alrighty then ... I suppose this is a right of passage for my 1st build. I put it together wrong. I switched C7 and C8 (I guess I'll need to check my dyslexia on the next build).

Switched those around, and now it works great.

Do my parents live at 435 or 345? Important papers were lost in the mail for most of a month because "someone" is dyslexic and some postal worker is playing dumb.

Checking for the usual dyslexic swaps is essential self-defense against yourself.

also, welcome to the forum.

a minor point - we don't know C7 value or placement if you don't post or link to the build docs and the circuit diagrams contained within. another minor point - your germanium diodes are fitted backwards. probably [hard to say without the circuit diagram] won't make the slightest difference in this build, but those look to be the soviet-style markings, with the band denoting the Anode. look in the glass, the little disk is the Kathode, which is what the banded board marking indicates. by convention. this might be negated or covered in the build docs, but, well, welcome to the forum.
