What is everybody's book recommendations ranging from beginner level to very advanced (bonus if they are about pedal building specifically)? I've seen a few great resources floating around but not sure where I want to start. I really enjoy things that are quite thorough with their explanations and descriptions. So anything that has that type of content would be super appreciated.

Also if possible I would prefer if the books were still in print or if they are out of print there being ways to access them that don't involve spending a lot of money for a used copy

Last post I found asking about it was that one from 11 years ago. Was wondering if there was anything that has changed or perhaps more recommendations. As for the other post about synthesis, I'll check it out. I was looking for things along the lines of "The Stompbox Cookbook", which I was recommended recently. Sorry if it seemed like a redundant post.

There's quite a few topics on this but often not so easy to find with the search engine,

I put some links down in this thread,

Thank you, I tried the search engine and its very picky about what it shows you. You have to be quite precise with your wording.

No, you are right, it is a scanty list. I know I have seen (and contributed) better book-lists but maybe on other topics in other forums.

There are nearly no "effects theory" books. (I say that to provoke rebuttal.)

Most "pedals" are audio amplifiers; and even that is a slim skim of general electronics.

I don't know your level, but I see people who want to build "the ultimate thing" but have not mastered DC circuits (all amplifiers and kin start with DC bias).

ANNNND.... the demands of modern college education for The Newest Thing gives us textbooks which skimp on basics and rush ahead to radio, RADAR, computers, transistors, PMOS, optical networks, quantum fiefiefoefums....... forgetting that it takes 7 years for an EE graduate to come up to full speed and start making money for the company, and in that time any specific technology becomes half obsolete. (Except, of course, the field of guitar pedals....)
