i was thinkin about this earlier adn decided to give it a try.  i have an old tape walkman,  one of those crappy walmart types that i got for around 3 bucks, and a cd to tape converter(you know the one that has a cord on it and a little 1/8" plug.)i decided to take my output from my rig and splitit off to the tape, and to another amp.  gives a nice doubling sound slightly compressed mimicking the tape sound.

then again there is also the little mod i am loving now.  cut off the tape head and plug yourguitar in there.. lol  too much fun and a cheap amplifer for practicing.

Ansil,
I did that quite a while back.  someone had how to do this.  I can't seem to find it.   With mine, you had to hit play, without a tape in it to use it-)basically a headphone amp.

there is a switch under the play button, or directly connected with those little wire tension rods in there.  but yes you are correct you do have to hit play.  but a small price to pay for a saviour from boredom

If you are doing this on a sacrificed tape player, you can also cut power to the motor speed regulator to get rid of some noise and greatly increase battery life. :)
