when looking on the olnine parts catalouges (malpins, rs, mouser and the like) i cant seem to find footswitches like i would use on a stompbox

i am looking for one tpdt switch (for use in an a/b box) one dpdt switch (for a kill switch) and a momentary dpdt (as a kill switch that only works when pressed down)

anyone direct me to these parts?

much thanks

David

Maplin sells two types of DPDT footswitches (N84AR is the one I normally get) and a momentary DPDT footswitch (N85AR it says in the catalogue that it is a SPDT, but I reckon is a DPDT, It has 6 pins). 3PDTs, if you are in the UK, you can get them from http://www.wah-wah.co.uk

gurutzeta - The two switches you mention are indeed both DPDTs.  I bought two of the momentary switch (N85AR) by mistake once, after the shop assistant told me that they would definitely do what I wanted them to do (i didn't realise they were momentary, as nowhere in the catalogue did it tell me this - i just assumed that the 6 pins were two SPDTs side by side - i.e. a DPDT) - this was a case when the N84AR was out of stock and had been for a fortnight.  Unfortunately when I came to use the switches, i found that they were not what I wanted - but since it was more than 14 days after I bought them, Maplin would not grant me a refund.  Â£8 down the toilet, just like that :(

This is the main source of my grievance against using Maplin (not the 14day refund policy - that's fine) - rather it is the poorly informed staff who do not seem to know exactly what it is that they are selling.  On several occasions I have been given the wrong parts and/or components all thrown together in a bag with no way to easily tell the difference between parts if it is not written on the casing. (e.g. capacitor vaules)

They are also MUCH more expensive than the e-tailers.  If you can, get your parts from somewhere else, as I have had nothing but trouble from Maplin (unfortunately they remain the only realistic choice for buying the DPDT switches).

Sorry - didn't mean to rant on at you all - happy thanksgiving to the American cousins across the pond!

Cheers

Aron has a good deal on 3PDT stomps (see the top topic in this forum), otherwise you have http://www.smallbearelec.com , or http://www.tubesandmore.com .

Mouser will be selling Alpha stomps in the near furure and Small Bear will carry the same (I believe Steve said at the same price too).

I've never used them, but I've heard lots of bad things about the cheap switches with the contacts that make a six pointed star ar asterisk on the bottom (typically called "X Wings").

Take care,
