Check out this picture of an "early" Keeley-modified SD-1 circuit board that's on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2576556254&category=41416

There are some discrepencies between the picture and the list of mods that he put out.

--Notice that there are 5 new stacked metal film capacitors on the circuit board instead of the 4 that he lists.

--There's are three new metal film resistors on the circuit board, whereas the mods only list two to be replaced.

I checked an unmodified SD-1, and the extra replaced capacitor is C8 (?)...which appears to be one of the .047uF (473K).  (In the picture it's the one closest to the big 1uF film capacitor on the left.)

Could the third replaced metal film resistor be to adjust the brightness of the indicator LED, which he also replaces with a super bright blue LED?

Also, I don't see the 47pF capacitor that he adds to smooth out the distortion.  Soldered to the back of the board?

TIA

>>>  i don't see th back of the board so i couldn't tell you if the 47pf cap is there or not.   the third resistor could be for the led....  and since it is an early one. maybee he used to do it a certain way and he found out it was over kill so he stopped doin it that way.

I believe that pic is of the typical 5-Star Ge mod, not an "early" version of the mod. R2 and R6 are changed, and so is R30, since the big LED is added. Regarding the fifth metal-stack-film capacitor, Keeley doesn't mention it, so one would have to guess whether the change was for upgrading the capacitor "type" or for changing its value.

The layouts for the early boss effects are different than the new ones.
That mught be it.
