I just breadboarded up the famous "EA Tremolo" by Anthony Leo.

Nice sound; I'd like to figure out how to make it a stereo panner.

Like many, I didn't think that it got fast enough; lowering the 2.2K resistor in series with the Rate pot fixes it nicely.

I don't know how many actually do this, but Leo suggests adjusting the 560K resistor downward depending on the characteristics of your FET. I did, and it had a big effect on the depth of the tremolo. My final value was under 100K, too.

Be sure to try this. He describes what to do on the second page of the article. From what I saw, the starting value of that resistor could easily be cut in half. I see that runoffgroove has it at 120K, which is realistic.

I'm with Mr. Leo in not really caring for LDR's, and the use of a FET is a nice approach.

Putting this together and picking it apart increased my understanding of the way the building blocks (amplifier, oscillator) go together.
