hey does anyone have the ammscray's derangemaster schematic you talk about???
CHANGES

Ammscray

I have it...:)

I build my Derangemasters exactly like my original RM with most of the same components everybody else can get...my trip is just using real Mullard OC44's and 71's and cherrypicking them for each individual pedal...there's no real magic involved here, it's all about using your ears...

Now as far as my silicon version, sorry I'm not letting that particular formula out but there's plenty of great schemes around anyways

Ammscray,

I vaguely remember that you mentioned something about original Rangemasters having 8.2nF output caps? Do you use this value, or 10nF?
What value do you use for the input cap, 4.7/5.6/6.8nF? What value for the pot, 10k/20k?

Ammscray

All the originals I've seen had .0082 polystyrene for the output cap but you won't hear any difference between that and .01...

The input cap depends on the customer and his guitar but personally I like .0056 paper/oil...10K pot for the OC44 and 20-25K for the 71, like the originals...lots of people don't want the pot though so I preset it on the inside...

Hey BTW I'm coming your way in July! Can't wait to get back to Amsterdam!

Whoever it was said they're liking the VOX TB, I'm liking it too.
My book has no entry for better or werser to Rangemaster, but I built this thing late last week and I've been using it ever since.
I used a 5k pot and trimmed that down a little to bias the tranny with a nother Resistor across lugs 1 / 3.
Then I just tuned the three caps, and boxxed it up [ I had one ready]!
Sounds great, low noise as these things go too.

It sounds exactly like "we will rock you" I did alot of r&d with this and found a tranny that got that mid-range thump almost as good as a germ...I've compared it to both the original Cornish and a Fryer and it sounds more like the LP than those do...

B May got one of my germanium versions, I was getting ready to send him one of the silicon ones but I'm rediculously busy right now and actually getting ready to go out on the road so the pedal thing won't be happening again for awhile...I do it on the side anyways it's not how I make the bulk of my living...

Did you ever build one with a med power Si device?  I built one with a tip29 (what I had) and adjustable bias base to +9 resistor was made a fixed R and a pot.

Yes Gus I did...I really like the TIP's they're a little on the big side for my small perf-boards but have very nice midrange and are very quiet too...much better than most all other silicon devices I tried...and I tried alot!

Those work really well in silicon tonebenders as well...:)
