EA Tremolo Attempt #3

The three 1uf's look like they are ot be electrolytic or polarized on the perf layout? The schematic doesn't indicate this so I assume it doesn't matter...
I'm going to try a third time for the EA !!! Ya know what they say bout the third time...wish me luck...!!!...

I have electrolythic caps on my attempt. However the lack of JFETs in Leiden means I haven't got it working yet

They are polarized, the shaded part is negative on all the Runoff Groove layouts, and I believe it does matter to the circuit(unless you use 1uF Films of course).

I used 1uF films in mine. You could also use 1uF non-polarized electrolytics, but I don't think those are as good as the film types.

Hope you get it working this time.

Why so tuff to get Jfets there?
Could they be sent in an envelope throught the mail?
I see this alot, I'm sure you and others who have problems getting parts have looked into it...Just curious what the situation is...

Im working on my EA as well..I didnt realize ho big those 1uf films are! Wow! Gonna have to make some room in there somewhere. :?

Why don't you spend a dollar and get polarized caps? They're much smaller than film caps

Someone gave me several 1uF film caps, which I used in mine. They are pretty compact, with only about a 1/2"x1/4" footprint.
I was at the local electronics store yesterday, and was looking at some on the shelf, and they are at least twice a large physically than the ones I have, probably even bigger.

If size is an issue, I would probably use 1uF non-polarized electrolytics.

The ones Smallbear has are the little square ones like you're talking about. The regular plastic ones are huge. I can vouch for the fact that electrolytics work fine in the EA. Mine sounds killer.

just a note, the 1uF caps here are in the LFO and so don't effect the 'tone' of your amp very much - they just affect the shape of your LFo wave. i *think* that the advantage of film over electrolytics here might lie in the film caps having lower leakeage and so being able to cope with very slow sweeps like we use here.

and another note, if your 1uF caps are too big, try 0.68uF or 0.47uF which are easier to get hold of in a smaller size.

i like the speed range of these smaller caps anyway (it goes faster)
