hi all

just letting you all know, my DIY effects christmas presents were very popular haha. my uncle scored an octavia, and my brother got metal distortion. the metal distortion was actually a 'Howies Metal Simplex' i really like the tone of that thing. very 80s metal, deep purply.

so i was talking to my uncle afterwards and he said all my life ive wanted a flanger. so i thought, his birthday is in a month, ill have a go.

i dont think im up to any of the ibanez or EH designs, so the ultraflanger looks like the best i can muster. problem is i cant find the MN3007s, OR the NTE1641s in australia! can anyone help me out?

You can defintely get MN3007 at approx AU$15.00and I think he might have the NTE1641.

Airmail rates are $US4 (AU$6) minimum - you can get a LOT of stuff for this.

Also check out his other stuff - some of it is cheaper than stuff you *can* get in Oz (eg CA3080 and 2N5088 ...).

About the Ultraflanger - it's reputed to have a rather intractable noise problem (it's been the subject of consternation on this forum for about 18 months or so now) - I thought about making one but I think I might eventually do the FL301 off the tonepad site instead (they sell readymade PCBs too if you're allergic to making them like I am)...

Also check out //www.generalguitargadgets.com they'll sell you a PCB for an EH Electric Mistress flanger, it takes a SAD1024 that smallbear sells too (it's dearer than Mn3007 though)

ahh i was thinking about small bear but i didnt know if they were available is australia first. i heard about the ticking business but after a quick sort through the forum archives i discovered a post by A Colman that might offer some help there. small bear is closed till the 12th janurary, and his birthday is on the 25th. looks like im up for some extreme postage costs.

Checkout Tonepad's Ibanez Flanger 301 too. The Ultra FLanger can be a pain in the *ss to build.
