Hi all !
I traced a Dano Surf'n Turf compressor yesterday and bingo,it's an original MXR Dynacomp.The only difference is the switch wich is Fet based. All other oparts are like the real thing.

Surf n' Turf = US$30 on eBay
Dynacomp = US$100 on eBay.

There's the other difference  :wink:

Some of the dano pedals are awesome sounding! The chicken salad sounds a lot like a univibe for about $100 less!

Hmmm ... I've got a surf'n'turf and it doesn't sound like a Dynacomp (I've just built one of them too).

In fact I like it better because it doesn't cut lows as much and has more sustain with the sensitivity maxxed ... it's very natural sounding too.

The only thing that worries me is it changes the tone of my rig *slightly* when bypassed, I'd love to see the schemo so I can maybe futz with the input impedance or something

I personally like the sound of the PB&J delay the mini version of the bigger Dan Echo delay. Its based off the PT239X series of ICs. For less then $80 you can't beat the sound/price ratio.

I think a lot of this goes to show that some of the sound is due to the packaging  :D

I mean, I have heard two "identical" pedals sound different due to tolerance differences.

Now take those circuits and put them in different boxes and you've got:

"Deano don't sound as good as mixr" etc... :?
